Banking and Insurance Committee

S 849 Generic Prescription Drugs: This bill addresses changes in generic prescription drug reimbursements and provides for an exemption of the Department of Health and Human Services in its duties administering Medicaid.

S 850 Insurance Policies: This bill addresses a number of changes in accident and health insurance laws.

S 972 S.C. Unclaimed Life Insurance Benefits Act: This bill would require an insurers to regularly check against the death master file and to establish priority for the distribution of benefits.

S 973 Insurance Premium Tax:   This bill is addresses imposing the insurance premium tax, so as to extend the date that certain revenue must be sent to the South Carolina Forestry Commission to 2027.

S 976 Limited Line and Special Producer Licensing: This bill is related to insurance definitions and would amend existing statute as it relates to limited line and special producer licensing.

S 977 Clean Claim Definition: This bill brings definition to the term “clean claim,” establishes a time frame for payment of clean claims, among other items.

S 978 Risk Based Capital Plans: This bill would make a number of changes to risk-based capital plans.

Statewide Appointment: South Carolina Department of Transportation, Christy Ann Hall

S 315 Secretary of Transportation: This committee to will continue discussion on a joint resolution that would allow the Governor to continue to appoint the Secretary of Transportation.
